My Real Experience Of Being A Sugar Baby

Whilst traveling, it is hard to save up money quickly. You want to see and do everything while you’re in a country for a short time so you don’t miss out. Being a sugar baby was the perfect way for me to avoid wasting all my time earning money while I lived in Australia.

I saw a job advert on Craigslist to make money by dating older, successful men. The link took me to a sugar daddy site, which is for sugar daddies seeking younger, attractive partners to share their resources and time with, then I made a profile. It wasn’t exactly a job as it had been advertised but it did still suggest that a sugar daddy would help me out financially. I’d never used online dating before but I was curious enough to give it a go.

When making the profile I was honest about everything apart from my name. I was aware that most of the men were using old photos but I had nothing to hide with mine. I wrote that I wanted to meet for dinner or drinks and suggested a more intimate arrangement if we got on well.

I ignored any messages that were just after nudes and a few men who mistook the site for an escort service. I went for a younger sugar daddy, as I thought that some level of attraction would be important unless this was purely about getting extra money. As it turns out, I had a lot in common with the guy I met. We were both in to running and some of the same books, movies, music and TV shows. I don’t know if I’d have had as much in common with a guy much older.

We agreed on $2000 AUD per month and I spent at least 3 nights a week at his. As time got on, we started spending more time together, daytime activities as well as sleeping together. We even took a trip to Tasmania for a long weekend. We continued with the same financial support, as he supported my passion for traveling. However, I didn’t ask for any more despite spending a lot more time with him. Honestly, it helped anyway because I rarely had to buy any food shopping.

My sugar daddy had been on a few dates with other girls from the site and had been annoyed that they always went to the most expensive restaurants and meals but then embarrassed themselves by wearing inappropriate dresses or not knowing how to eat their food when it arrived. We felt much more like friends because I was happy to let him choose what we did. I had my allowance and an unexpected friendship, I was happy to let him take control of where we went to eat and drink.

We stayed together for four months, mostly as an exclusive couple because we were having fun without seeing other people on the side. I’m not going to pretend it was a romantic relationship from my point of view. I think he felt more romance from it but for me it was a really great friends-with-benefits situation and I had a fantastic time in Australia because of it. The benefits became more than just having extra money to travel with. Having a local to show me around and somebody to eat, drink and see things with was the best part of the whole experience. Especially as I got to see things in more style than your average backpacker!
